Ten Trade Tips To Lower Your Phone Bills

1. Do you use Broadband? Did you know that there is an analogue port available with Broadband that most people do not use? In effect this is like a free line that just sits there unused. You can plug in a phone or connect it to a phone system. I can tell you how to do this. This will save you over £ 160.00 a year in BT charges if you're a business user.

2. Check you phone bill particurlarly if you're a business user. Why? Because in my experience many customers are paying for lines and equipment they no longer use. The problem is that most people can't interpret the information on their BT bill so they keep on paying. Contact me if you need help with this.

3. Do you have a Redcare line for your burglar alarm? Most businesses are required to have Redcare to get insurance and most have the line sat in a cupboard next to their alarm system. Did you know that you can use this line for standard calls? After all that's why Redcare was developed by BT so that you can use the line during the day and then use it for your alarm when your premises are not occupied. Most companies don't do this and use their Redcare line exclusively for their alarm system. This is a waste of money as they often pay for an additional line to make out-going calls. By using the Redcare line correctly this saves in excess of £ 160.00 per year per line.

4. Call bar your phone system for Premium rate lines. If you use a telephone system you can usually do this through it's internal programming. You can call bar any BT line from making Premium rate calls by contacting BT. This simple operation can save you the massive cost of calls to Premium rate lines. I can tell you how...free.

5. Do you get calls from tele-marketing people? Did you know that you can stop the majority of these by contacting BT on a special number? This is a little publicised number that BT run. Simply log your number and BT will delete you from the lists that tele-sales people use. This does work as I found out. The number of sales calls plummeted after I logged my numbers with BT. Do the same with your fax line number to reduce those annoying junk faxes. I can tell you how...free.

6. Use up those free minutes that you get with your mobile. Many people don't and make chargeable calls on their landlines despite having freetime on their mobile. This sounds obvious but we've all done it. You can usually check how many minutes you have left by ringing your mobile provider. I use Orange and their number for this is 150. Also, check whether you can roll over unused minutes from one month to the next. Some providers do not let you do this so you'll lose any unused free minutes.

7. Contact your mobile provider whenever you are out of contract. This way you can get freebies like a new phone and free minutes whenever you sign up again. Be careful though, you are commiting yourself to another contract (usually a year), so shop around. You should also threaten to cancel your existing contract. Ring your current mobile provider and ask for the disconnections department and tell them you want a "pat code". The disconnections department are your mobile company's last line of defence and have more flexibility to give you freebies. I do this every year. If you're not sure what to do contact me and I'll tell you....FREE!

8. Get a discount package from a least cost router. I use Euphony as I've found that they represent the best value in my opinion. This is an area where potentially large savings can be made. You do not need any addtional equipment or plug-in boxes and you keep your existing numbers. The transfer is done at the BT exchange without any fuss or disruption.

Euphony offers a simple, across the board discount package that's easy to understand. Connection is free and Euphony do not lock you in to a minimum time period, you can cancel any time. I use Euphony and I've been in the telecoms industry for thirty years and in my opinion Euphony represents the best value. Euphony Details Click Here

9. Check you bills for unusual call activity. Mistakes can be made and all users should watch out for possible fraud or misuse by staff or persons with access to your line.

10. Keep up to date with telephone charges as there are many changes which are not necessarily well published. If you need advice contact me and I'll help you free of charge.
